The Islander Building

I believe this was originally built by the Navy as a mess for senior petty officers.  It was subsequently used by Cable and wireless as accomodation for single staff, and was the first home of the Heritage Society museum. As its' name implies, the Islander newspaper was published and printed here when it began publication in 1966.  The building later was used as a transit hostel for passengers travelling between St Helena and U.K.  I believe that it was intended at one time to convert it to a hotel, but I'm not sure whether this ever happened.
